Wittgenstein On Myth, Ritual And Science
Abstract
Sir James George Frazer published the first volume of The Golden Bough in 1890. He
didn't complete it until 1915. The book became so famous that Wittgenstein was
interested in reading the book. According to Rush Rees, he never read the complete
twelve volumes of the book, he received an abridged one-volume edition and made
pencil notes on particular pages in this abbreviated version. What was his problem
with Frazer's Golden Bough?
