A Response to Child’s Objection to Common-Sense Realism
Abstract
William Child (2002) has argued that one cannot tenably hold the middle ground
between constructivism and platonism. In this paper, I will argue that by
relying on Stroud’s notion of ‘naturalness’, a common-sense realist position can
be maintained that avoids the excesses of constructivism and the paradoxes of
platonism.
