FROM LANGUAGE GAMES TO SOCIAL SOFTWARE

Abstract

In his famous "five red apples" example Wittgestein describes in some detail a short incident during which a note is sent requesting five red apples, and these are supplied by the shopkeeper. A lot of water has passed under the bridgge since then and we understand in more detail how procedures like these are organized in society and the role which communication plays. In our talk we will say something about social procedures, signalling games and cheap talk.
