Picturing Semantic Relations
Abstract
The paper presents a construction of the metalanguage of an object language endowed
with an intensional interpretation, the kind of interpretation naturally associated
with the picture theory. The construction is canonical and the result possesses some
attractive properties. In fact, unlike Tarski’s its truth conditions do not lead to
an infinite regress. It is then shown how the intensional interpretation scheme fits
into Wittgenstein’s general conception about language and its objects.
